Cities that look like Kamloops, but aren't!

Kamloops is a one-of-a-kind city—but every now and then, you stumble across a place that makes you stop and think, “Wait… am I still in Kamloops?”

Whether it’s the dusty hills, the winding rivers, or that blend of laid-back vibes and rugged terrain, there are a few spots around the world that give us serious Kamloops déjà vu. Here are two cities that feel surprisingly familiar:

Drone shot of downtown Missoula. Reminds me of the view of the North Shore and Brock when hiking in Kenna.

1. Missoula, Montana – Kamloops’ Chill Cousin South of the Border

Similarity level - 5

Missoula has that same blend of wild west charm and outdoorsy energy we know and love. Nestled in the Northern Rockies, it’s got a river running through it, tree-covered hills, and a downtown that knows how to mix hip coffee shops with historic architecture. Sound familiar?

Much like Kamloops, Missoula thrives on its local culture, a strong university presence, and a love for mountain biking, hiking, and floaty summer days on the water.

Mtskheta, Georgia. Somehow, the conjoining of two rivers, the mountains, and the same fall colors make this look almost identical to the view looking north up the valley when in Kamloops

2. Mtskheta, Georgia – Ancient Soul with Kamloops Scenery

Similarity Level - 7

You might not expect a 3,000-year-old city in the Republic of Georgia to feel like Kamloops—but it does! Surrounded by dry hills and set at the confluence of two rivers, Mtskheta has a surprisingly similar topography.

Sure, the ancient monasteries give it a different historical flavor, but that blend of natural beauty and old-world charm? Totally Kamloops energy.
